About us
A youth-led NGO promoting and protecting the rights of older people.

Support To Older People-Zambia is a non-for-profit non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights, welfare, and dignity of older people across the country.
We believe that ageing should be a stage of life filled with health, productivity, and respect. Guided by a clear vision, we bring together communities, the younger generation, and national and international partners to ensure that older people are not left behind.
Our Story
STOP-Zambia was officially registered on 26th December 2015 under the NGO Act of 2009 (Registration Number RNGO/101/0546/15 Issue No.2, 2021).
The organisation was founded in response to Zambia’s National Ageing Policy, which called for collective action to address the pressing social and economic challenges faced by older people.

What began as the initiative of young and middle-aged Zambians has grown into a recognised organisation combining advocacy and service delivery.
Since its establishment, STOP-Zambia has worked tirelessly to amplify the voices of older people, influence policy, and support communities in building inclusive systems that respect and uphold the rights of the elderly.
What We Do Today
Our work today is guided by five strategic goals designed to improve the quality of life for older people, strengthen communities, and contribute to national development:
1. Promoting older people’s rights and inclusion in national policies
We work to ensure that older people are fully integrated into Zambia’s health, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), and social protection policies and programmes.
2. Enhancing livelihoods and income security
We provide opportunities for older people to build and diversify their sources of income, promoting independence and resilience.
3. Strengthening climate change adaptation
We help older people and their communities respond to the challenges of climate change through sustainable, locally-driven solutions.
4. Improving humanitarian response
We prepare communities and deliver targeted assistance to ensure that older people are protected during emergencies and crises.
5. Building strong systems
We continuously improve our internal management to maintain transparency, accountability, and sustainability.
Be part of the change. Support our work.
